How to use this at home
Your child practises the exact spelling of 6 Irish words about on the farm. Because the letters have to match exactly, they quickly learn that a fada matters: á is a different letter from a, just as it is in their school copybook.
- Once the grid is done, cover the English in the word list and see how many meanings your child remembers. Then swap: you say the English, they find the Irish word in the list.
- Read the word list together before starting, using the English meanings beside each word. Your child ticks each word off as they find it.
- Read a farm picture book and point to everything you know in Irish. For example, arbhar means "corn (grain crop)".
