Pronunciation is a rough guide. If your child's teacher says it differently, go with the teacher.
How to use this at home
Your child practises the exact spelling of 9 Irish words about people who help us. Because the letters have to match exactly, they quickly learn that a fada matters: á is a different letter from a, just as it is in their school copybook.
- When a word has a fada, point it out before searching ("look for the í with the line on top"). That habit pays off later when they write the words themselves.
- Once the grid is done, cover the English in the word list and see how many meanings your child remembers. Then swap: you say the English, they find the Irish word in the list.
- Play dress-up: your child picks a job and you guess the Irish word.
