Pronunciation is a rough guide. If your child's teacher says it differently, go with the teacher.
How to use this at home
Your child practises the exact spelling of 9 Irish words about family. Because the letters have to match exactly, they quickly learn that a fada matters: á is a different letter from a, just as it is in their school copybook.
- Read the word list together before starting, using the English meanings beside each word. Your child ticks each word off as they find it.
- Make it a race: you look for one word while your child looks for another. The answer key on page 2 settles any arguments.
- Look through old photos and name who is in each one.
