How to use this at home
Your child practises the exact spelling of 4 Irish words about winter. Because the letters have to match exactly, they quickly learn that a fada matters: á is a different letter from a, just as it is in their school copybook.
- Once the grid is done, cover the English in the word list and see how many meanings your child remembers. Then swap: you say the English, they find the Irish word in the list.
- Make it a race: you look for one word while your child looks for another. The answer key on page 2 settles any arguments.
- Watch for robins and other birds in the garden and say the Irish names together.
